Just having a bit of fun with the laser cutter, and making example resources for my design classes.
I have been improving my CAD and 3D printing skills! Haha I started with a finished model that I downloaded from ThiniVerse, but had to modify it for our school's printers which could not handle the job. Had to rebuild a couple parts from scratch. Then I built the stand also. It's been fun.... Unfortunately … Continue reading NCC-1701A Yes, I’m having fun!
Been building a LED light box with a Halloween them. So far, I'm pretty please with it, though it's far from done. I was inspired by some the great work my 7th grade students have made in their design class. I'm also hoping that this Light box will inspire them next year to make something … Continue reading Something cool!
SCIS is remarkable! In the photo below, you can see 4 iPhones and at least 4 laptops laying around. The kids leave them when they go to the gym, lunch, etc. Nobody steals them, messes with them, or anything. It really is wonderful, to work someplace so safe.
When I was growing up, if I wanted to build something in the 7th grade, my options were so limited. Here are some USB powered night … Continue reading Design is such an amazing class!

As a model to inspire them, I built this … Continue reading Look what I made….
Today, two different grade 6 students presented me some images they made for my Birthday. One is a soccer card, and the other is Jedi Sutton cause he said I'm just that awesome! 🙂 I love these kids, so amazing and thoughtful.
Before school started, 3 former students brought me Starbucks and home made brownies! As the day progressed, the sweets kept coming. I'm so lucky to teach in a school with such loving and thoughtful kids.
Back in September, I posted a picture of myself and a small gift that one of my coworkers gave me in response to my Happy Wednesday Treats. If you missed it, every Wednesday, I deliver a small snack (Soda, Kinder Joy eggs, crackers, etc.) to each of the 7 teachers on my floor. It's just … Continue reading Giving and Receiving, pt 2
Give a class of 6th graders 50 minutes to design and then 3D print a phone stand, and they can come up with some great ideas. The design challenge I gave them was to design and print a phone stand, that can hold their phones in both portrait and landscape orientation, and be printable in … Continue reading 6th Graders are Amazing
